Village of Webster Historic Preservation Commission
“Our mission is to identify, register, and protect the historic resources of the Village of Webster”
In 2004, The Village of Webster adopted a voluntary preservation ordinance similar to those enacted by more than 100 other municipalities across New York State. Its purpose is to protect from destruction or insensitive rehabilitation those buildings and neighborhoods in the Village that have special historic, architectural, or cultural character. The Webster Village Historic Preservation Commission consists of five residents who are appointed by the Village Board, and who have a known interest in historic preservation. The Commission meets once each month.
The mission of the Historic Preservation Commission is to identify, register and protect historic resources in the Village of Webster. The Commission’s activities can include working to protect physical buildings like the Webster Grange (Harmony House), highlighting homes through our Site of the Month, reviewing documents, conducting programs and sponsoring events. The Historic Preservation Commission also oversees the Struck Memorial on Lapham Park and the Pioneer Cemetery on East Main Street.
The past enriches our present and informs our future. Any Village resident who is interested in joining the Historic Preservation Commission or getting more information should call (585) 265-0671 or email [email protected].
